Today's panchang

The panchang is astronomy you can check: five daily measurements of the Sun and Moon — the lunar day, the Moon's star, two Sun–Moon combinations, and the weekday — computed for your city's own sunrise. Below them you'll find the day's favorable windows (like the midday Abhijit) and the periods tradition avoids for beginnings (like Rahu Kaal). Every term explains itself on hover.

Panchang times depend on your city's sunrise — pick yours for accurate times.

How to read this page

Green means tradition counts the period as favorable for beginnings; clay means it is traditionally avoided — a custom to respect, not an emergency. These windows shift with your city's sunrise and sunset, which is why the same day looks different in Mumbai and Vancouver. The panchang is the shared, same-for-everyone layer of Vedic timing; for a date matched to a specific event and to your own birth chart, use the muhurat finder.
